Ward was born at MonroeLouisianaon 14 April1976. Ward attended a private Christian elementary school known as Monroe Christian School. She attended Ouachita High School to complete her second year of education. She then transferred to River Oaks High School after the summer. She was a student at Northeast Louisiana University briefly after her graduation. Ward left school at the age of thirteen and relocated into New York so that she could begin modeling. A few years later, she decided to try acting. In the 1970s, she had a small part that was not credited on the daytime soap All My Children. Then she was cast in a role that lasted only a few minutes as NBC's prime time teen-drama Malibu Shores. Ward landed her first role on the Sunset Beach daytime soap opera, where she played the female virgin Meg Cummings. She began her quest for an acting career in the film industry, starring as The psychotic Brittany Foster in the erotic film The In Crowd. The film in theaters was a failure,
